Scheduling posts
In testing, not available yet. Scheduling is in testing and visible only to big's team, so Schedule does not appear in your dashboard yet. This page describes how it will work once it opens.
Publishing is not switched on yet. You can plan, write, approve and schedule posts today. They go out once Instagram publishing is approved for big, and every scheduling screen says so until then.
Scheduling lives at Schedule in the dashboard (/schedule). It is dashboard-only for now: the CLI, the MCP servers and API tokens cannot read or change scheduled posts yet, and a token call is refused with a sentence that says so.
Planning posts
A post is one piece of content you plan once and send to one or more of your connected accounts. Each account gets its own version of the post, so you can tune the caption or media per account while keeping them together.
A post moves through these states:
- Draft: being written. Nothing is scheduled.
- Awaiting approval: an editor scheduled it in a workspace that requires approval, and it waits for an admin.
- Scheduled: approved and waiting for its time.
- Published or Failed: shown per account once big tries to publish it. If one account fails, the whole post shows as failed so a partial failure is never hidden.
- Cancelled: it will not be published. You can still read it.
The calendar
The calendar shows a month at a time, Sunday first, in your own timezone. Each post is a chip with its local time, its platforms, a caption preview and its status. Use the arrows to move between months or Today to come back. Drafts with no time yet sit in the Unscheduled drafts rail beside the calendar. Editors and admins see New post; viewers can open any post to read it.
The composer
Open a post or choose New post to use the composer:
- Pick the accounts to post to. Each account becomes its own version of the post.
- Choose a post type for each account, such as a feed image, a carousel or a reel. Only the types that account's platform supports are offered.
- Write the caption within the platform's limit, and attach media from Files. Only files that suit the post type are offered, and only files in this workspace.
- Set the time, in your local time, and add a note for your team if you like.
- Save draft to keep working, or Schedule to queue it. When your workspace requires approval and you are an editor, the button reads Submit for approval.
Problems with a version show as you type, and big checks every version again when you schedule.
Editing a scheduled or pending post moves it back to draft. Any change gives the post a new revision and clears its approval, so nothing publishes that nobody reviewed. big asks before Save draft does this; schedule it again when you are done.
Once any account has published, the post is locked. You can still cancel the accounts that have not gone out yet, but you cannot edit or delete the post, so the record of what was published stays intact. To post something different, cancel it and create a new post.
If every account failed, you can try again. Nothing went out, so the post stays editable: fix what failed (reconnect the account, or change the post), which moves it back to draft, then schedule it again.
Approval
An admin can turn on require approval in Settings, beside your team members. When it is on:
- Posts an editor schedules wait in the Approvals queue (linked from the calendar, with a count).
- Admins and owners schedule directly.
- An admin approves the exact version they were shown. If someone edits the post after the queue loaded, the approval is refused and the admin reviews it again.
- An admin can also send a post back to draft.
Roles are described in Team.
Plan limits
Each plan allows a number of scheduled posts per calendar month, counted per account the post goes to: one post sent to two accounts counts as two.
| Plan | Scheduled posts per month |
|---|---|
| teeny (free) | 10 |
| tiny | 60 |
| big | 300 |
| bigger | Unlimited |
The month is the one the post is scheduled for. At the limit, scheduling is refused with a link to upgrade. Downgrading never cancels what is already scheduled. See Plans.
Deleting your account
Deleting the account cancels every post still waiting to publish before any of your data is removed. See Your data.
