How to track link in bio clicks, button by button
Track link in bio clicks per button, see page views, and find which platform sent them, using a big link page and tagged short links.
Published
To track link in bio clicks, put your links on a big link page and add each one as a link block. Every link button gets its own short link when you save, so the page's Stats tab shows views for the page and clicks for each button, without you setting anything up. If you also want to know which platform the visits came from, put a tagged short link in your bio instead of the bare page address.
What you need
- A big workspace and the editor role or higher, which is what it takes to create a link page.
- The links you want to share. Each link block needs a title and a full
http://orhttps://URL. - Somewhere to put the page: your Instagram bio, a TikTok bio, a YouTube description, and so on.
There's no plan cap on link pages, blocks, views, short links or clicks, so tracking doesn't cost you anything extra.
Step 1: Create a link page
Open Links in the sidebar and choose New link page. Pick a handle, which claims the address itsjustbig.com/t/<handle> straight away, and optionally a display name. You land in the editor, which has three tabs: Build, Theme and Stats. The link pages guide covers the profile fields and limits.
Step 2: Add your links as link blocks
In Build, add a Link block for each destination. This is the part that makes tracking work. When you save a link block for the first time, big creates a short link for it at /l/<code>, and the public page uses that short link instead of your raw URL. Every tap goes through the redirect, and that's where it's counted.
A few things follow from that:
- Fixing a URL doesn't reset the count. Editing a link block's URL points the same short link at the new destination, so its click history stays attached.
- Hidden blocks aren't counted. A hidden block isn't on the public page, so it's left out of stats too.
- Removing a block doesn't erase its history. The short link it minted keeps redirecting and keeps its numbers.
You can also add a Form block, a Socials row, images and headers. Blocks lists what each one needs. Only link blocks get per-button click counts.
Then publish. Only a published page counts views, and drafts, 404s and the editor's own preview never do.
Step 3: Read the Stats tab
Open the page and choose Stats. You'll see three things:
- Page views, with a unique count and this week compared with last week.
- One line per link block: total clicks, unique clicks and the weekly change, next to the
/l/code it redirects through. - Form block views, labelled all sources, not just this page. That number is the form's total views from anywhere, not just from your page. For the page-specific side, look at link block clicks.
Counting is cookieless, visitors' IP addresses are hashed rather than stored, and obvious bots are filtered out. Link page stats explains each number.
The page stats are weekly. For day, month, quarter and year breakdowns, plus referrers and devices, open the individual short link. Page-made short links are hidden from Links → Short links by default; click Show them too above the list to find them. Link stats covers that view.
Step 4: Find out where the clicks came from
Here's the catch with bio links: links opened inside Instagram's in-app browser often arrive with no referrer at all. Untagged Instagram traffic lands in Direct, and big won't invent a source it doesn't have.
The fix is a tag. A short link's target can be any http(s) address, including your link page, so create one under Links → Short links that points at itsjustbig.com/t/<handle>. On that link's stats page, use Copy a tagged link, pick Instagram bio under Where, and paste the result into your bio. It looks like any other big link, and every click through it is filed under Instagram. Copying the same placement again gives you the same link, so your numbers stay on one row. Make one per place you post, such as your TikTok bio or a newsletter, and compare.
In big's own records, taps on your page's buttons are filed under the Link page channel rather than Direct. Campaign attribution explains how channels are worked out, including how form submissions inherit the source of the click that brought them.
Check it worked
Open your published page on your phone, tap one of the link buttons, then reload the Stats tab in big The page view and the click should both show up. If you used a tagged bio link, open its stats page and look for the visit under the Instagram channel.
If it does not work
- No views at all. Make sure the page is published. A draft is never reachable and never counts.
- A button has no click line. A link block that hasn't been saved yet has no short link, so it can't have clicks. Save the page. Hidden blocks are left out entirely.
- Most of your traffic shows as Direct. The bio link probably isn't tagged. Use a tagged link as in step 4.
- A section reads "no views yet" on a page you know gets traffic. A hiccup reading one section leaves it empty rather than breaking the page, so retry before assuming the numbers are wrong.
Link page stats lists what isn't there yet, such as a referrer or device breakdown for page views.
Where to go next
If your page sends people to a form, How to build a conditional logic form shows how to make that form ask only the questions that apply. To get your link to people who ask for it on Instagram, see How to set up an Instagram comment auto DM. Links sent by an automation in a DM are tagged for you automatically.
